The 74-foot sailing vessel Schooner Wolf, flagship of the Conch Republic, motors out of Safe Harbor Marina en route to the Bahamas on Thursday, November 14, loaded with a Key West Cares hurricane Dorian relief cargo as well as 500 Heartpack, Inc., backpacks for moms and kids. Since September 6, Key West Cares, a group of community leaders and citizens, Key West City officials, church leaders, and national and international partners working together to coordinate post-hurricane Dorian aid to Key West’s Sister City,Green Turtle Cay, have delivered well over 200,000 pounds of relief cargo on more than a dozen cargo flights, a barge, and three sailing vessel deliveries. WOLF is preparing for a major haul out to satisfy US Coast Guard requirements, so we’ll be ready for the 40th Anniversary Conch Republic Independence Celebration, April 15-24, 2022.
